SOUTHWEST SIESTA

 

Class Length: 2 days (optional 3 days)
Proficiency Level: Intermediate
Design Size: 7½" x 9"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: This southwestern themed boot travels from the Rio Grande to the mountains with both traditional and dimensional stitching.  Design encompasses popular aspects of the southwest starting with the colorful southwest sky on a partially line-drawn canvas.
            
In addition to the traditional stitches, student will work with cast-on, bullions, and French knots.  Threads include cottons, linen, silks in both solid and over dyed colors.  A corded lasso and an ultra-suede heel will accent the boot for the finished look.

Technique: Traditional and non-traditional stitching, dimensional embroidery, padding, attachments.
Kit Fee: $85

Pre-stitching: None
Student to Supply: 11" x 13" stretcher bars, tacks, laying tool, frame weight or holder, magnification/light (if desired), and personal stitching supplies.
 

STARFIRE

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 7" x 7"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, white or eggshell
Class Description:
Starfire combines traditional canvas stitching with Blackwork and fabric attachments.  An 8-pointed star in overdyed floss is the focal point.  Student will have a choice of several  different layouts.  Fabrics will be attached to the canvas with a fusible adhesive      while the Blackwork designs are stitched with overdyed flosses.  Fabrics will be attached to the canvas with a fusible web and corner stitching is overlaid with a stem stitched design.  Threads include solid and over-dyed flosses, perle cotton, and Silk Luminescence. 
Creativity will be encouraged as students select their desired layout.
 
Kits will be available in many color selections.
Technique: Canvas Embroidery.

overdyed cottons and silks, rayon thread, perle cotton.

SUMMER'S BOUQUET

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 6" x 6½"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: One in a series of 4 watering cans with seasonal flowers, this floral display of fresh daisies is accented by stems of goldenrod.  This piece is stitched with a variety of dimensional stitches, thread padding, and surface embroidery techniques. Batik leaves accent the piece. Student will stitch on a line drawn 24-count congress cloth.
Technique: Traditional, Dimensional, Surface Embroidery.

SUNSET ON THE BEACH

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 5½"x 5½"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: This sunset beach scene with a webbed seahorse watching over the area is composed of both traditional and dimensional embroidery on canvas.  Multiple stitches on a line drawn canvas will be done using cottons, metallics, rayon and silks.  A few shells are added for embellishment.

Student will use the canvas as a guide to stitch as directed and personalize at the same time.  Both traditional and surface stitching will be the focus while student learns ways to use a variety of threads to create color and texture.

Finished piece fits the Sudberry 5¼” round Shaker box or can be framed.
Technique: Counted and dimensional embroidery.

TEXAS TWO-STEP

 

Class Length: 2 days (optional 3 days)
Proficiency Level: Intermediate
Design Size: 7½" x 9"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description:
This Texas themed boot includes traditional and dimensional stitching, an appliquéd ultra-suede Stetson, as well as traditional stitches and use of cording.
 
Individual personalization is done with “branding iron” initials for each student.  Student will work  on a partially line-drawn canvas and will learn how to make and use a schematic drawing. 
 
Additional optional designs will be included with the kit.  Finishing will be discussed in class. 
Technique: Traditional and non-traditional stitches including dimensional embroidery, padding and attachments.

WHITE DAGGER

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 7½" x 9½"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: A luscious white Yucca in full bloom welcomes all visitors into the courtyard.  The large terra cotta pot is stitched onto a linen fabric, with a touch of beads added.  The pot will then be appliquéd over padding to the hand dyed ground canvas for a dimensional appearance. 

Choices of batik fabric will be available for the window interior.  Student will wrap the arched window frame and finish the Quoins with a choice of stitches.  Other options will be discussed.

The stair railing is stitched with metallic braid in a blackwork wrought iron design.  Long stitches on the patio give the viewer a look of Mexican tile work.

WINTER SPLENDOR

 

Class Length: 2 day
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 6" x 6"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description:
This piece coordinates with the Prairie Blooms as one of a watering can series.  The flowers and leaves will be stitched in a variety of threads with dimension and texture. 

The watering can will be stitched with perle rayon while flowers will be done in both over dyed and solid flosses.  Both felt padding and stitch padding will be used for dimension.

Small petals of ultra suede will be attached as the top layer. 

Holly leaves will be done with overdyed floss and finished with Flair.  The pine needles are long stitches while the holly berries are thread covered beads.
