A SUMMER DAY

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 6" x 8"
Ground: 18-count mono canvas, eggshell
Class Description: Take time to relax and stitch your favorite summer getaway place.  This peaceful beach scene is stitched with both surface embroidery and traditional counted canvas work techniques with a touch of padding work and embellishment.  Various uses of the long stitch with  multiple stitches on a line drawn 18 count mono canvas will be done using cottons, wool, metallics, rayon and silks. 
Technique: Traditional stitches and various uses of long stitch, ultra suede appliqué.
Kit Fee: $78
Kit Contents: Instructions with color photo, line drawn canvas, all threads, and material needed to complete design.  Embellishments include ultra suede, hand crocheted sunhat, silk ribbon, and a starfish or seashell.
Pre-stitching: None
Student to Supply: 10" x 12" stretcher bars, tacks, laying tool, frame weight or holder,  magnification/light, if desired, personal stitching supplies.
 

CUBED STARS

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Intermediate
Design Size: 7" x 7"
Ground: 24 Congress cloth, white or eggshell
Class Description: Cubed Stars is a 7" x 7" counted design stitched on Congress cloth (24 count).  The project focus is a quilt-inspired eight-pointed star surrounded by square and diamond shapes that give the impression of cubes.  Blackwork stitching (choice of design areas)
and fabric appliqués provide additional interest.  The stitching is suitable for basic  Intermediate and up, but the additional techniques make this a fun learning experience for the more experienced stitcher.  Using lush Batik fabrics for inspiration, many rich color ways are available. Threads used include solid stranded cottons (aka "floss"), over-dyed stranded cotton and size 12 pearl cotton.  Kits will be available with white or eggshell Congress cloth, cut size 11"x11" (the color of Congress cloth and perle cotton will coordinate with the fabrics).
Technique: Traditional Canvas work with Blackwork and Fabric attachments.
Kit Fee: $70
Kit Contents: Instructions with color photo, 24 count Congress Cloth, overdyed and solid flosses, perle cotton #8, batik fabric and fusible.
Pre-stitching: None
Student to Supply: 11" x 11" stretcher bars, tacks, frame weight or holder, laying tool, magnification/light and extension cord (if desired), personal stitching supplies.
 
 

COASTAL TEA

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 6½" x 6"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: Collectors of teapots and sea life—stitch a coastal décor teapot!  The shell teapot has a coral handle, starfish lid, sea horse spout, and is embellished with sea fern, sea grass, seashells, and beads.  Student will learn to use padding  techniques and a variety of dimensional stitches, in silk, cotton, wool, and metallic fibers on a ground of congress cloth.  Stitches include needle weaving, satin, couching, basketweaving, chain, feather, stem, and Smyrna cross.
Technique: Traditional and dimensional stitching with embellishment attachments.
Kit Fee: $78
Kit Contents: Instructions with color photo, 10" x10" line drawn canvas, all threads, and materials needed to complete design.  Embellishments include shells and beads.
Pre-stitching: None
Student to Supply: 10" x 10" stretcher bars, tacks, laying tool, frame weight or holder, magnification/light, if desired; personal stitching supplies.
 

DIAMOND FLORALS

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 6" x 8"
Ground: 18-count mono canvas, eggshell
Class Description:
Diamond Florals gives the impression of stained glass panels - some with florals in blackwork style and some with batik fabric.  The center panel is filled with an appliquéd batik pot containing a curving vine with dimensional flowers and leaves.
 
Batik fabrics will be attached to the piece and black work designs will be stitched with over-dyed Gloriana Luminescence. 
 
Threads include solid and over-dyed flosses, perle cotton, Silk Petite Perle, and metallic thread. 
 
Creativity will be encouraged as students add their own touches to this stitched piece.
Technique: Traditional, surface, and dimensional stitching with appliqué.
Kit Fee: $70

DESERT HONEY

 

Class Length: 2 days (optional 3 days)
Proficiency Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Design Size: 4" x 5"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, eggshell
Class Description: The night-blooming white and yellow flowers in silk ribbon and beads invite the desert visitors daily as bees enjoy the sweet nectar and pollinate the desert tree.  Student will pad the cactus trunk and cover it with batik fabric.  Stitching will be done on top to
enhance the spiny columnar structure of the stem.  The ruby red fruit is stitched with Splendor silk.  A variety of stitches include tent, satin, long, French knots, bouillon and attachments. Both traditional and surface stitching will be the focus while student uses  a variety of flosses and silk threads to create color and texture used in the flower stems and spines (pleats).
Technique: Multi Media, Dimensional Embroidery.
Kit Fee: $52
Kit Contents: Instructions with color photo, 24 count Congress Cloth, a variety of
overdyed cottons and silks, rayon thread, perle cotton.

Student to Supply: 8” x 9” stretcher bars, tacks, frame weight or holder, laying tool, magnification/light and extension cord (if desired), personal stitching supplies.
 

DESERT VISITOR

 

Class Length: 2 days
Proficiency Level: Basic - Intermediate
Design Size: 4" x 5 1/2"
Ground: 24-count Congress Cloth, white
Class Description: A large, beautiful bloom in Silk ribbon and Organza bring the Prickly Pear cactus to life. The visiting Monarch butterfly is tent stitched.  Student will choose batik fabrics for the cactus pads.  Student will pad the cactus trunk and cover it with batik fabric.  Pads are enhanced with stitched spiny thorns.  The ruby red fruits are stitched with Splendor silk. Student will use the canvas as a guide to stitch as directed and personalize at the same time.
Technique: Traditional and dimensional stitching with embellishment attachments.
Kit Fee: $52
Kit Contents: Instructions with color photo, 24 count Congress Cloth, both solid and overdyed thread, silk ribbon, beads, padding.
Pre-stitching: None
