Four Day Classes

FEEDING FRENZY

|
Class Length: |
4 days |
Proficiency Level: |
Intermediate/Advanced |
Design Size: |
10" x 13" |
Ground: |
Batik Fabric and Organza
|
Class Description: |
As feeding time approaches, the Koi go into a feeding frenzy. This innovative two-layered design creates a realistic and almost sculptural depiction of the Koi in their pond. The Koi are stitched on pre-mounted Batik-printed fabric to give the illusion of movement and depth to the pond, thus forming the base layer.
The lily pads and bead flowers are stitched on pre-mounted Organza which is placed above the Koi, creating the surface of the pond. When finished, the two layers are mounted with a separation of about 1/2 inch, allowing the viewer to look through the surface to the active Koi below. Student will pad the fish areas
before adding the final layers of Floche. The flashy tails give movement to the Koi.
Supplies include DMC Floche, flosses, beads, sequins, and Kreinik metallic threads. Dimension is enhanced by the use of two separate sets of stretcher bars. Creativity is encouraged, as students add their own touches to this 10 stitched Koi pond. This class will give the stitcher all the needed elements to complete the piece at home, including framing tips to achieve the dimensional
effect.

|
Class Length: |
4 days |
Proficiency Level: |
Intermediate |
Design Size: |
7" x 9" |
Ground: |
24-count Congress Cloth, white
|
Class Description: |
Picture the still quiet of winter as the snow settles, with only a little bunny and cardinal in view. This is the scene that you will detail as part of the dimensional canvas work “QuietMoments” class.
The class begins with color washing the canvas, on which the students will then do both surface and traditional stitching. Students will learn a variety of different techniques as they stitch the large tree on a separate piece of canvas, then pad and appliqué it to the main forest piece. Dimension is enhanced by the use of padded Batik fabric embellished with metallic and cotton cording. Various geometric stitches and French knots enhance the snow mounds.
Creativity is encouraged, as students add their own touches to this stitched forest with a variety of rayon threads, cotton flosses, and metallic threads. Color wash paints and brushes will be available for use in class to further enhance the piece.
This class will give the stitcher all the needed elements to complete the piece at home. |

24-count Congress Cloth, white, 11x13, and 6x10

The large tree will be stitched on a separate piece of canvas, then padded and appliquéd to the main forest piece. Dimension is enhanced by the use of padded batik fabric.
Creativity is encouraged, as students add their own touches to this stitched forest. Color wash paints and brushes will be available for use in class. This class will give the stitcher all the needed elements to complete the piece at home.
